Gem Boy is a platform game in which you will help a cute character, named William, stop the forces of evil by collecting gems. Gems are collected by moving a paddle and hitting a ball. When you hit a gem with the ball, it will disappear from the board. Some gems, however, are harder to catch, so you will need to hit them more than once. In addition, when the ball bounces, you will need to move the paddle so as to hit it back, or otherwise you will lose that ball. As the number of balls is limited, you will lose the level if you run out of balls.

It is a very fast-paced game, so you will have to move your paddle quickly and do not stop collecting gems until you have cleared the whole board. Apart from the very simple task of collecting gems, you will also collect prize tokens and learn powerful spells that you can use to save the day. These powerups are also added every time you reach given punctuation levels.

The game has several levels but higher levels will be blocked until you have solved the previous ones. Each level will become increasingly challenging, so you will need to acquire the necessary skills in order to win them.

In general, Gem Boy will be most appreciated by people wanting to relax without using the brain too much. Depending on your preferences, this game may become highly addictive. The game has a nice background story, but it is unlikely that users will pay much attention to it, because it is rather secondary in relation to the gameplay. The sounds are simple but adequate. The graphics match the theme, but they are poor and do not have vivid colors. In my opinion, there are lots of more graphically appealing games with a similar gameplay, even for free.
